5 Things I’ve Learnt From Getting 5 Tattoos.

If you know me you’ll know that I have quite a few tattoos and I recently got a new one which I love just as much as all my others.

I have learnt so much since getting tattoos and I’m now here to tell you all about that if your deciding to get one and not sure how you feel.

Healing can hurt more than the actual tattoo.

Not many of my tattoos hurt expect my rib one that was a killer! I find the healing stage much worse. The day after is the worst my arm feels so numb and sore and I can’t even lift it up or lie on it. Just wait till you get to the itchy stage because my god that is so irritating, imagine having an itch you can’t itch trust me it’s horrible!

Meaning doesn’t always matter.

I always thought you had to have a meaning behind a tattoo and for my first one it did but then I just saw ideas that I liked and thought you know what I’ll get that done and when people ask about meanings I just say it doesn’t have one I just like it and that’s the way that it should be. Never let anyone put you down because you don’t have one that is a meaning. Tattoos aren’t about that.

Tattoos can hurt.

I have five tattoos and I can happily say only one of them really hurt me and that was my ribs but some people can say their ribs didn’t hurt. Everyone is different, everyone has different pain tolerance. For me it just feels like little pinches now and again, I will say if you get colour that does hurt more than black. White is the worst colour by far! I genuinely like the feeling of getting a tattoo but someone else might hate the pain.

It’s ok to take a break if you need to.

I see so many people take breaks during tattoos even if its just 5 minutes to get a drink, get some fresh air or even if your tattooist wants a drink. When I was getting my rib I wanted to take a break but I didn’t want to seem weak, especially with big bodybuilders in the shop. Just ask because I’m sure your artist will appreciate a break to and since then I do take a little 5 minute break because mine usually last 2-3 hours and I need a break for sure!

They aren’t cheap.

Let’s talk about price, people think that getting a tattoo is cheap and yes it can be but let’s be real and say you will get what you paid for don’t expect something amazing for £30. None of my tattoos were cheap for example my last one was £300 and I usually pay that everytime and I love every single one. Whatever you pay for a tattoo as long as you love it that’s all that matters in my opinion. You pay for a good artist and their skills definitely do you research before you jump into getting your first tattoo.

Overall tattoos are a great thing to get and once you get one you won’t be able to stop. It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done and I can’t wait to get more.

Do you have any tattoos? If so what do you have? I’d love to know.

Love your post, totally agree most of my eight tattoos hurt more after the tattoo than during the actual tattooing session. Most of them I zoned out on but afterwards, they were very noticeable especially ones in areas that you commonly move like ankle/wrist.
